Department for SMEs and Entrepreneurship
Small and medium-sized enterprises are the initiator of the development in the market economy and countries in transition.
Development of small and medium-sized enterprises provides:
- Increase of gross domestic product
- Increase the number of entrepreneurs
- Balanced Regional development
- Creation of new jobs – unemployment decrease
- Import substitution
- Greater export competitiveness of the domestic economy
Activities performing in the Department for Development of SMEs and Entrepreneurship are related to:
- Monitor and analyze business and the business environment of small and medium-sized enterprises and entrepreneurship;
- Preparation of the laws in the Sector’s jurisdiction;
- Proposing economic policy measures for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises and entrepreneurship, and monitoring the effects of the proposed measures;
- Preparation and coordination of policy implementation for development of small and medium-sized enterprises and entrepreneurship in the Republic of Serbia;
- Proposing measures to encourage investments in small and medium-sized enterprises and entrepreneurship;
- Coordination of the work of the Agency for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises and entrepreneurship and other organizations;
- Initiation, coordination and participation in the implementation of donor activities in the field of encouraging the development of small and medium-sized enterprises and entrepreneurship;
- Activities related to the implementation of the European Charter for Small Enterprises;
- Proposing measures for the legal and other solutions in order to improve the business environment for small and medium-sized enterprises and entrepreneurship, as well as other tasks in this field.
The Department consists of small internal units:
- Department for SME and entrepreneurship policy;
- Department for competitiveness.
