EKO KRUG – Cluster for Collection, Packaging, Processing and Permanent Disposal of Electronic, Industrial and Hazardous Waste

EKO KRUG cluster is a professional, non-profit organization of companies involved in collection, recycling and processing of secondary materials (in particular electrical and electronic waste suitable for further use or processing). It was established in 2006 and covers the entire territory of the Republic of Serbia.


Cluster’s objective is to secure a systematic approach to the treatment of electronic waste, to develop and master new technologies in treating technological materials and their usage in domestic industry, to prevent environmental pollution from dispersed electric and electronic waste, and to raise society’s awareness as to the need to properly treat secondary and waste materials.

 

Cluster activities:

  • A comprehensive data containing all the enterprises involved in recycling in the Republic of Serbia was created.
  • Following books were published – "Managing WEEE waste" and "Batteries – dangerous waste".
  • Eko krug cluster Conference addressing the issues of solving the problems concerning collection, packaging, processing and permanent disposal of electronic and industrial waste was organized.
  • Analyzing the needs and potentials of waste materials markets in Serbia, and developing modern procedures in managing waste materials and technological procedures.
  • Cooperation with the authorities in developing legislature regulating the area of waste management, with a view to harmonize it with the European standards.
