The conference: “Development of the automotive supplier industry in Serbia: lessons learned from the UNIDO partnership program and the way forward “was held on 26. Novembar at the Palata Srbije with the aim to present the results of the project "Facilitating International Market Access for Manufacturing Suppliers in the Automotive Component Industry in Serbia" which was financed from 2007 to 2009 by the Slovenian government, Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Slovenia, and implemented by UNIDO in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development of the Republic of Serbia, the Automotive Cluster of Serbia and the Automotive Cluster of Slovenia.
The project aim is to improve the network of automotive suppliers in several fields: implementation of quality standards, implementation of information system for joint projects, strengthening the support infrastructure for technological progress, development of joint development projects etc. The project was realized in cooperation with Slovenian Automotive cluster, which will contribute to the development and implementation of joint projects, between Slovenia and Serbia. This will lead to increase of mutual trade and investment in the region, joint approach to third markets etc.
The conference was opened by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Regional Development Mladjan Dinkic and Anton Horzen, Head of the Department for International Development Aid, Slovenian Ministry. Automotive representatives from Serbia and Slovenia, the director of the European Automotive Association CLEPA, Head of Department from EC - DG Enterprise and Industry, Automotive Unit and industry representatives: Fiat, VW, CIMOS and many other companies participated at the conference.
